The Body in the Bushes
Fresh Investigations Following the Discovery of Women’s Remains
13 years ago Melanie Hall mysteriously disappeared with no trace and despite in depth investigations by police and private investigators what happened to her remained a mystery until this week when the remains of a woman found on a motorway slip road where identified as that of Melanie.
At the time of her disappearance a huge focus of attention was placed on the case because there was no evidence to suggest that she might have disappeared on her own accord, which is often conclusion many investigations can lead to with missing persons. Given the concern that Melanie had not disappeared on her own accord led to a nationwide search for evidence to her whereabouts including a ten thousand pound reward, television appeals and also extensive forensic investigations.
Hall was a 25 year old hospital worker when she disappeared in 1996 after a night out in the city centre, subsequent investigations at the time found nothing substantial enough to take the case forward and without any evidence to go on the case remained unsolved. Now without the discovery of Melanie’s body there will be a fresh investigation into the case. It is reported that jewellery found with the body led to her positive identification and now a crime scene and body have been located there will be an abundance of evidence to investigate.
Police arrested two men in 2003 in connection with the case but following a negative search of premises and subsequent investigations in Bath both men where later released without charge.
Private investigators often continue the work many police forces have to close when it comes to cases of missing person investigations of those who can cannot be located, often employed by the family of the subject in question, fortunately many are successfully found an reunited with their families.
